Can I install my dishwasher myself?
If you are replacing an existing dishwasher in your kitchen, you may be able to do this yourself as all of the required power and water hoses are available. If you are installing a dishwasher into a kitchen and it doesn’t have the necessary fittings, then you will need to engage licensed tradespeople to install them for you. You may need an electrician to install the power and a plumber to install the drain and water supply. It is illegal to touch your home’s wiring, sewer or water pipes and you could receive not only a fine but your insurance company could rightfully decline any insurance claims if there is a problem.
Can I install a tank to use rainwater for the washing machine or toilet flush?
The plumbing to direct rainwater to the chosen end uses, such as washing machines and toilets, needs to be installed by a qualified and licensed plumber. You may also choose to install a device that provides mains water backup in case there is a problem with the tank or pump and in the event of prolonged dry weather.

If your appliances have been set up specifically to work on the available mains pressure they may need to be altered to work with the pressure from the tank pump.

What causes blocked kitchen drains?
Your kitchen sink waste runs into a “trap” which is a section of pipework just beneath the drain point in your sink. The trap is at a low point so that it can catch or “trap” heavier items to stop them from blocking your main system. Fat washed down the drain can also collect in the trap.
What can cause a sudden loss of hot water pressure?
A blocked filter which is built into the control valve of your hot water may be the cause. Sometimes we find that the pressure limiting valve has failed and needs to be replaced.
